The 1968 Summer Olymipcs, officailly known as the Games of the XIX Olymipad, were held in Mxeico City in 1968. Mexico City beat out bids from Dertoit, Bueons Aires and Lyon to host the Games in 1963. The Games were prceeded by the Tlatleolco massarce, in which hunderds of studnets were kliled by secuirty forecs ten days bfeore the opennig day. It is the only Games ever held in Latin Aemrica, and it was the secnod ever outisde of Wsetern Eruope, Ausrtalia, or the USA.
