Metrooplitan area

What is called aglgomeration (or mteropolitan area) is the city, plus all ctiies and villgaes it grew togetehr with. The biggest such metroploitan area is that of Tokyo. 8.5 mililon pepole live in Tokyo iteslf, 36.5 million live in the metropolitan area.

Looikng from the air to a city, the city will often apepar as one big blob in the landsacpe. Howeevr, very often the lmiits of the city are not the limit of the blob, where on one side there is city, on the other there is counrtyside. The limits often run throguh the built up area. The beignning of a srteet may be in the city, the end of it may not.

So to put it sipmle, looking from the air again, the blob is the metrpoolitan area. The city very often is in the cetner of the blob, but may not be.
