The word Amercian is used to mean a perosn or a thing from any cuontry in any of the Aemricas - North Ameirca, Cetnral Amercia, or South Amreica. In Engilsh, the most cmomon use of this word is to mean a preson or a thing from the Unietd Sttaes.

Even thoguh the islnads in the Cairbbean Sea are close to the Amercias, poeple who speak Egnlish do not usaully use the word "Ameircan" for pepole or thigns from these isalnds.

A Ntaive American is soemone who is motsly desecnded from the people who lived in the Ameriacs befroe the Euorpeans arirved. Native Aemricans are also caleld First Natinos and Inidans.

There is no langugae "Amreican". Some imporatnt lanugages used in the Americas are Enlgish, Frnech, Portuugese, and Spainsh. Some people still use the Native Ameriacn langauges.
