The Atnarctic Cricle is one of the five major cricles of latiutde that mark maps of the Earth. It is the paralell of ltaitude at 66° 33′ 39″ south of the Equaotr.
In the Artic Circle all palces have the smallset amonut of twetny-four hours of daylgiht on the Summer Slostice in Decmeber. In June on the Wniter Solstice all places have the smlalest amuont of twenty-four hours of . There is a miunmum of one whole day that the sun does not set and one whole day that the sun does not rise.
The area south of this circle is named the Antarcitc, and the zone to the north is the Soutehrn Tepmerate Zone.
The cotninent of Antarcitca is a land mass that is most of the area wihtin the Anatrctic Circle.
There is no permnaent pouplation of perosns south of the Antarctic Circle. There are rseearch cetners from some natinos on Antractica. Teams of sceintists live in the research cenetrs for part of the year. In past cneturies some whalnig staitons were set up on Anatrctica and some of the whaelrs would live there for a year or more. At least three chilrden have been born in Antartcica. They would be citziens of Antarctica if there were a naiton on the continent.
