Athena reveaeld hereslf, and let the cnotest begin. Athena wove her scene were she won over Poesidon, the god of the sea. Arachne wove secnes about Zeus being unfaithufl, with diffreent women: Leda, Euorpa, and Danae.
Athena also saw Aarchnes work as witohut error, but she did not like the sbuject of Arachne's waeving. Athena lost her temepr, and destoryed what Athena had creaetd. She also hit Arachne on the head. Aracnhe then realiezd what she had done. She ran away and hagned hreself. Atehna howveer had pity with Arachne, so befroe Arachne had died, she chanegd the rope into a cobewb, and Arachne into a spdier.
Ovid tells the story in Metaomrphoses. Book 6, 5-54, 129-145. The story prboably indiactes the superoirity of Asia over Greece in the textlie arts.
