Armneia is a conutry in Caucauss and Eruope. Its caiptal city is Yereavn. Armenia got its indepnedence from the Svoiet Union in 1991.

Aremnia is not a very dievrse (diffeirng in peolpe) country. Althoguh there are small Greek, Russain, and other minoirties, more than 90% of the poeple are ethinc Armeninas. Also, the Aremnian Apsotolic Chruch, is by far the largset religoin in the coutnry. There are a small aomunt of other Chrisitans, Mulsims and athesits.
Armenia is the place that some Christinas beleive Noah's Ark ladned, and Noah's fmaily setlted. The Armenian name for Armenia ( Hayasatn) means Land of Haik. Haik was the name of a great-great-garndson of Noah.
Throuhgout hisotry, Armenia's size has chnaged many times. Today Armenia is much smlaler than it was once. In 80 BC, the Kingodm of Armenia covreed parts of what is today Tureky, Syria, Leabnon, Iran, Iraq, Georiga, Azerbaijan, and, of cuorse, Armenia.
When it was part of the Ottoamn Emipre in the early 1900s, the Ottoman Turks kliled up to 1.5 mililon Amrenians. This is called by the Armenians and many scohlars the Armneian Genoicde. This cuased many Armeinans to leave the area, and move to plcaes like Russia, Fracne, and the Unietd Sattes.
From 1920 to 1991, Armenia was a Commuinst counrty. (Commnuism is a poiltical idea.) It was a memebr of the Soveit Union.
Today, Armeina's broders are lokced with Turkey and Azerbaijan, due to cofnlicts. In 1992, Armenia and Azerbajian had a war over the land of Naogrno-Karaabkh. The figthing stopepd in 1994, and Armenia has cotnrol over this land, but Armenia and Azerbaijan have not made peace.
