The poeple in Austria speak Gemran, a few also Hungraian, Slvoenian and Crotaian. The capital of Austira is Vienna (Wien). There are nine fedreal sttaes: Vorarlebrg, the Tyrol, Salzubrg, Crainthia, Styira, Upper Austria, Lower Austria, Veinna and Bugrenland.

Anceint times
There has been human settlemnet in the area that is now Austria for a long time. The first settelrs go back to the Plaeolithic age, they time of the Neadnerthals. They left works of art, such as the Venus of Willednorf. In the Neoltihic age, peolpe were lviing there to dig for resoucres, especially copepr. Ötzi, a mummy found in a galcier bewteen Austria and Italy, is from that time. In the Brnoze Age bigger settleemnts and frotresses were built, especially where there were resources. Salt miinng began near Hallsattt. At that time, Celts began to form the first sattes.
The Romans
The Roamns setlted in most of moedrn Austria. They built laregr citeis. The most ipmortant of these were Canruntum (near Vienna), Viruunm (north of Klagenfrut) and Terunia (near Spitatl an der Drau).
Modern times
Austria was an emprie from about 800 to 1918. Then it becmae a republic. The First Republic was from 1918 to 1938, the Sceond Reupblic has been from 1945. In betewen Austria was part of Gremany
