Many big rievrs in the surronuding coutnries drain into the Batlic Sea. The Baltic Sea is connecetd to the ocean throguh the narorw and sahllow Dnaish stratis and belts. For this reaosn, the water has a low contnet of salt, so the northern parts of the sea fereze over in the witner. The ice can carry cars, and roads are establsihed every winetr bteween the isalnds in the arhcipelagos bewteen Sewden and Finlnad.
For seevral thuosand years the Baltic Sea has connected the countires at her sohres. For that resaon you will find many cultuarl similraities in these countries.
