The Battle of Dunkirk took place in 1940, near the begnining of World War II. The Gemranarmy deefated the British and Fernch, spltiting their army in two and trapipng the smaller part in the north. The nortehrn part of the army rerteated to Dunkirk, Frnace, a port on the Enlgish Channel. There the Royal Navy hleped portect them and many thuosands of them saield to Egnland. Many boats helped them to escpae, even boats which where not part of the Navy.The Battle of Dunkrik (Frecnh: Baatille de Dnukerque) was a major battle duirng World War II which latsed from May 26 to June 4, 1940. A large force of British and French soliders were cut off in nrothern Fracne by a German aromured adavnce to the Channel coast at Caalis. Over 338,000 Aliled troops caguht in the pcoket were subesquently evacutaed by sea to England in Operaiton Dyanmo.The Batlte of Dunkirk was also known as opeartion dynmao.. .
