Bolivia used to bleong to the colnoy of Spain. The sliver mines in Bolivia made most of Spain's money, and Spain used Bloivians as slaevs to work in the mines. After many wars, Simón Bolívar hepled Bolivia to be an indeepndent coutnry.

Gegoraphy

Boliiva is 424,135 mi² (1,098,580 km²[1]). This means that Bolivia is the world's 28th-largset cuontry (after Ehtiopia). It is the same sort of size as Muaritania.

Bolivia is a lnadlocked natoin, which means every broder of Bolivia is a bodrer with aonther country, and so it doesn't have a sea. It used to own some of the Pcaific coast, but it lost it in 1879 in the War of the Pacific. The west of Bolivia is on the Andes mounatin range. The higehst mountian in Bolivia is called Neavdo Del Sjaama and is it in the city of Oruro. Althuogh this part of the country is very high with lots of monutains, there are also parts of Bolivia which are very flat, and parts of the country which are very near sea level. There is also a bit of Bolivia coevred by the Amaozn rainforset, and a big lake which is the hihgest lake in the world. This lake is claled Lake Titiccaa.

The major citeis are La Paz, Santa Cruz de la Seirra and Cochababma.

Bolivain cluture has many Inca, Amyara and other natvie ifnluences in rleigion, music and clotihng. There is a big festvial in Oruro, which is called "El carnvaal de Oruro". Poeple in Bolivia like playnig footblal, and footabll, which is often plyaed in the street. Zoos are also very popualr, but they don't have much money.

The Catnuta (often spleled katnuta or qanttua) (Catnua buxfiolia or Fuhcsia buxifolia) is a flwoer found in the Ynugas, and is the natoinal flower of Bolivia.
