Breahting is the means by which our lungs reomve carobn doixide (CO₂), a metbaolic waste prdouct from our ssytem. The air going in and out of the mouth or nose when anmials bretahe is caleld the breath.

Rmeoval of CO₂ is nceessary as CO₂, when dissolevd in water--the cell's solvnet, craetes cabronic acid which has a low pH mkaing it acdiic thus maikng the cell's surroudnings acidic thus possbily inihbiting the nromal fnuction of enzmyes requried to maintian homoeotsasis.
