The Britsih Vigrin Islands are part of the Vrigin Isalnds chain of islands shraed by both the Uinted Sattes and the Untied Knigdom. It has sxiteen ihnabited and more than twnety unihnabited islands, and it incldues the isalnd of Angeada. It has an area of 153 km². Its popualtion of more than tewnty-two thosuand is small, cmopared to that of the Unietd States Virgin Islands.
The cpaital city, Road Town, is locaetd on Totrola, one of the islands in the group.
A new consittution was given in 2007. It grnats more cnotrol over everyady life to the Islandres, and lists the prtoection a pesron can epxect from the govenrment. The Chief Mniister will beocme the Prime Minisetr, and the Lgeislative Coucnil will be called the House of Asesmbly. These chagnes uusally hapepn when a coolny gets close to being indepnedent.

In 1666 Engalnd took over the islands. The first lieuetnant govrenor was apopinted in 1701, but the Birtish Virgin Isladns were usually goverend as part of other gorups of islands in the Carribean until 1960 when last legal links with the Leewrad Islands were abolsihed.Referenecs
