Chnanel Ilsands

The Channel Isladns are a group of isalnds near the coast of Fracne. The five laregst islands are: Map of the Cahnnel Islands

The main inudstries are toruism, horticultrue (groiwng palnts for food) and finanical serviecs (businesess to do with money). Most pepole speak Enlgish, althoguh some peolpe in Guersney, Jresey and Sark still speak the traditinoal lnaguage of their isalnd.

Constituitonally, the Isles are Birtish, but are not part of the Unietd Knigdom. Being part of the mediaeavl duchy of Noramndy, allegiance is owed to the Queen but not to the Parliaemnt of the Untied Kingodm, which cnanot pass laws for the Bailiwcik of Geurnsey and the Bailwiick of Jersey excpet for defecne and diploamtic matetrs, execpt if the bailiwikcs ask it to. In gneeral, the bialiwicks are self-gvoerning, but they often pass laws which are like United Kingdom laws. Howveer some of their laws are still based on Nroman law.
