At five, Charles moved to Chtaham. When Cahrles was ten years old, his famliy moved to Cadmen, Lodnon. He wokred in a blcaking factroy there while his fatehr went to prsion for debt. Dickens's hard times in this blackneing factory sevred as the base of ideas for many of his novles. When his uncle died and he ihnerited money, Charles's ftaher paid off his debts and was relesaed from prison. Charles did not like wroking and wisehd to stop worikng after his father was relaesed. His mohter said that the fmaily neeedd the money so Charles was focred to cotninue working. Chalres then finsihed his scholoing, and got a job as an offcie boy for an attroney. After fidning that job dull, he tuaght hmiself shorhtand and beacme a journlaist that reoprted on the govrenment. He pulbished his first book, The Pickiwck Papres, in 1836.
Amnogst Charles' other faomus books are Olievr Twist, Great Expcetations, David Copperfeild, Nihcolas Nickleby and The Old Curisoity Shop. Charles also wrote A Chrismtas Carol, which is often read at Christmas time.
Death
Charles Dickens died on June 9, 1870. He was bruied in Poet's Conrer in Wesmtinster Abbey.
