A child (one child, two or more cihldren) is somenoe who is not an adult yet, or a perosn who has not recahed pbuerty. A person yuonger than 15 years old is usulaly called a child. A baby that is not yet born is soemtimes called a child, too. A pesron can be claled his or her praent's child, no matetr how old he or she is.

In most coutnries, chlidren go to school. Also, smaller children may enjoy going to play-time gruops and also playnig with small toys and using their imagintaions to make their days more fun. But in other conutries, children work in factoires or in the feilds with their parnets or guaridans.

When two peolpe get marreid and one (or both) of them have chilrden with somoene else befroe they got married, that child is called a step child by the child's non- birth paernt. If both pepole had childern, the chidlren of each parnet are step borthers or step sitsers of each other.

Other uses

The word child is sometmies used to mean soemthing which comes 'from smoething' in some way. For examlpe in mahtematics a group may be the 'child' of anohter bgiger group.
