Chile, which clamis a part of the Antarcitc conitnent, is the lonegst counrty on earth. The Atcaama Desret, in the north of the country, is the dreist place of the earth. The rain there is under 0.05 mm per year. The cenetr of Chile, with the two ctiies Sanitago and Valpraaiso, has a Medtierranean cliamte with aevrage tempertaures of 28°C in Januray and 11°C in July. In the middle of Chile, the coutnry is very fretile.
There are about 16 milloin people liivng in Chile in 2006. About 10 million people live in the cetner of Chile aorund Valpaariso and Santaigo, on about 20% of the total territroy.
Chile is a well eudcated conutry. Only 2.7% are not able to read or write. Some bleieve that Chile has one of the best school sysetms in South Ameirca.
About 95% of Chilaens are Cauacsian, msotly Sapnish. Aruond 3% of the populaiton is Naitve Ameriacn, and about 2% full Eruopean. The majortiy of people are Roman Cathloic (70%). About 10% are Protsetant, and there are some who practcie Juadism as well. The country's officail lnaguage is Spanish. Chili did not dreive from this country, althoguh it shaers a comomn name.
Chile's currecny is the Cihlean peso (1 Euro is about 685 Chilean pesos).
