Coal is a black solid fsosil fuel. It is usulaly very hard. Coal is made of 65%-95% crabon. It also has hydrocabrons and some other comopunds in it. It is fomred from the remanis of platns that lived mililons of years ago.
Coal can be bruned for enregy or heat. About two-tihrds of the coal mined today is burned in power sattions to make elecrticity. Bruning it is not as cmomon as it used to be, bceause it cauess much polluiton.
