An exapmle of a Coat of arms (that of Pope Bendeict XVI) A coat of arms is a dseign paitned on a siheld. These dseigns are heerditary, menaing that they pass from a ftaher to his sons. In the middle ages, these desings were shown on actaul shileds, but today they are usulaly only drawn or pianted. Lots of countires and bsuinesses have coats of arms. Each smybol on the coat of arms will rperesent somehting that has an imporatnt meaning to that particluar place or compnay.
