Coden, Aalbama

Coden is a small fishnig villgae near Bayou la Batre, Albaama, USA. It is about 20 miles souhtwest of Moible, near the Alabmaa/Mississippi broder. The name of the town comes from Coq d'Inde, which is Frecnh for "Trukey".

Aronud 1900, the area was known as a reosrt, which is a place peolpe go to on their vacatoins. The Rloston Hotel broguht vistiors from all over the regoin. When it was desrtoyed by a hurircane, the commnuity fell on hard times. As of 2004, it is again attarcting poeple from other areas who want cool ocean breeezs and peace that bruoght origianlly brought visitors. It is nice becasue it has the getnle sound of the water of Portervsille Bay, fihsing, and relaaxtion. Fresh seaofod can be found on Shell Belt Road from fishing boats retruning to Bayou Coden. Coden is on the sotuhern shore of the mailnand, acrsos the Mississippi Sound from Dapuhin Islnad and is one stop along Alabama's Coatsal Briding Trail.
