A Sattue is a model of sombeody or somethnig, usulaly of a pesron or someitmes an anmial. It is a suclpture. Sevearl kinds of mateiral can be used to make a statue, e.g. stone, bornze, clay, or wood. Stateus are often at least life-size (the same size as the real preson), but often they are much bgiger, espceially stautes in the open air. Sattues are often made to reemmber an imporatnt person (such as the statue of Alrfed the Great), or to remember an event or an idea (such as the Statue of Lbierty).

Usaully there is some writnig on a statue to say who the person is. This writing is called an eipgraph. The statue may be stanidng on a base. This base is claled a "plitnh".
