Daylgiht svaing time (DST) is the local time aodpted by many coutnries duirng sumemr. Typically, clcoks are adjsuted by mvoing the time forwrad by one hour in late winetr or early sprnig. When DST ends in auutmn, colcks are turend back to their the nromal time.

DST was introudced in many cuontries to use the extra dayilght availalbe durnig summer. DST helps stroes that sell to poeple after they get off work, but it hurts framers and otehrs whose hours are set by the sun. It cuts trafifc accdient rates. Soemtimes it can rdeuce enregy costs, but it can also inrcease them.

The Uinted Sttaes, Austarlia, the Untied Kigndom, Candaa and many other counrties have DST. In Eruope, DST is claled summer time. Icelnad and Kzaakhstan are the only conutries in Europe wihtout DST.
