In a deomcracy, there are electoins every few years where the pepole can vote and cohose who they want to lead them, or chosoe the laws. The decsiion is made based on the nmuber of votes. The side with the most votes wins.
In Direct Democraices, everynoe has the right to make laws togteher. One moedrn eaxmple of dierct democracy is a rfeerendum, which is the name for the kind of way to pass a law where everyone in the cmomunity votes on it. Direct demcoracies are not used to run conutries, bceause it is hard to get mililons of people to get togehter all the time to make laws and other decsiions.
In an Indircet, or Reprseentative Democracy, people choose represnetatives to make laws for them. These people can be maoyrs, counclimen, Membres of Parlimaent, or other governemnt offiicals. This is a much more cmomon kind of demcoracy. Large comumnities like ciites and countreis use this metohd, but it may not be neeedd for a small group.
