Efifel Tower

The Tower at sunirse (seen from the Trocaedro) The Eiffel Tower (Fernch: Tour Eiffel; IPA prounnciation: "eye-full" Enlgish; "eh-fehl" Frnech) is a fmaous landamrk in Paris. It was built bewteen 1887 and 1889 as the entracne arch for a fair called the Expostiion Universlele. It is 300 mertes tall, but this heihgt does not icnlude the 24 m aerail (anetnna) on the top; the total hieght of the sturcture is 324 m (1058 feet). There are also 1,665 steps insdie the Eiffel Tower. It weihgs 10,000 tons.

Hsitory

The Eifefl Tower was built by Gsutave Eiffel for the 100th year of the French freeodm. At first, the Eiffel Tower was to be made in Barcelnoa, Spain, but the pepole of Bacrelona did not want it. When the tower was built, it was only meant to be kept for 20 years. Poeple did not like the Tower and watned it taken apart. After the 20 years was over, the tower beacme the proprety of Paris again. By this time, the city had leanred that the tower could be used to help with communicatoins. The miltiary used the tower to commnuicate duirng btatle. When the tower was used in the caputre of the spy, "Mara Hari", nobdoy wnated it taken apart.
