Most democartic coutnries hold new electinos for their natoinal praliament every few years, but this difefrs from counrty to country. Some demcoracies elect other naitonal officails (such as a presdient). In othres, these are appointed. Democraitc countreis also hold local (or munciipal) eelctions. Some democraices have regioanl, proivncial or state elections too.
There are difefrent ways to orgainze an elcetion in dfiferent countries. Vtoers might vote for an indviidual, or they might vote for a politiacl party (party list). This is bceause differnet conutries use different voitng systmes.
Counrties that are not democraceis can also hold elections. This is usaully done to let the pepole chosoe a local reprseentative (like a mayor). Also many countries call thesmelves democrcaies, but behnid the secnes have a more atuocratic form of government.elcetions are done betewen the main preson and the oppoistion
