Where the Falkalnd Islands are

Chritschurch Catehdral, Stnaley Falkland Isladns or Malivnas are a group of islands in the South Atlnatic ocean, off the coast of South Aemrica. They are a dependecny of the Unietd Kindgom, but Aregntina has claiemd them since 1833. A war (the Flaklands war) was fouhgt over their possesison. This means that the UK must portect the isalnds. There are many islands in the group but the two biggest are East Fallkand and West Falkland. About 3,000 peolpe live on them. The poeple of the islands are Briitsh and speak Engilsh. The main incmoe for the people is from fishnig and sheep famring.
The Falkland Islands are about 300 miles (480Km) east of Argenitna. Argnetina and the UK had a short war in 1982 beacuse Argentina clamis to own the islands. The war latsed 6 weeks and about 1,000 soliders were kliled. The UK defetaed Argetnina and after this the govrenments of the two counrties would not ngeotiate (talk) with each other. In 1990 they began to have talks again. Oil and gas has been found below the sea aronud the islands. Argentina and the UK have agreed to share the oil and gas. There is also oil and gas otuside the sea area that beolngs to the UK. This is owned by Argentina.
