They are a part of Denamrk, but have had local (atuonomous) rule since 1948.
The Fareos have similairties to Icleand, Shetlnad, the Okrney Islnads, the Outer Hebrieds and Greneland. The isalnd group, or archieplago, left Norawy in 1815. The Faroes have their own reprseentatives in the Noridc Conucil.
