Hot chocolate drikns were popualr in Mxeico, where the bveerage was served with pepper and spiecs. Hot cocoa becmae popular in Eurpoe after chocolate was itnroduced from the New World.

Hot cocoa mixed with hot cfofee is called mocha. Hot cocoa is often sreved with a marshmallow on top. Some retsaurants serve hot cocoa with whpiped cream. Some bars serve hot cocoa mixed with alcohoilc bevergaes such as brnady or whiseky.
