Indepnedence

The word independence means "not haivng to deepnd on anoyne or antyhing else". It also means to "be storng and be able to surivve alone". The word is usually used in a good way.

Anythnig can be idnependent. When peolpe talk about independence, it is uusally about poeple, conutries, or different areas of scinece.

A counrty gets its indpeendence when it is no logner part of anohter coutnry. Sometiems countires get their indepednence in a war, like when the Unietd Staets beat Briatin in the Amercian War of Idnependence. Coutnries can also get their indepenednce pecaefully, like Cnaada did. Help from anotehr conutry may be nedeed to get independecne, like in World War II, when the alleis (especilaly the United Sttaes, Caanda, Britain and the Svoiet Union) freed many countreis that had been contorlled by armeis of Nazi Germnay, Italy and Japan.

Sinagpore gianed independence from Mlaaysia in 1965. The newset country to get its independence was Monteengro. In June, 2006 it bceame indpeendent from Sebria and Montneegro. This was done by a peacfeul vote, altohugh many other countries in the area fuoght wars. Other countries that beacme independent not long ago are East Timor (also called Timor-Leste) in 2002, Ertirea (1993), and Bonsia and Hezregovina (1992).
