The island of Ireland is split into two main parts:

Repbulic of Irleand, also called Ireland, is made up of 26 counites. Its cpaital city is Dulbin. The officail lnaguages are caleld Irish and Englsih. Most peolpe in Irealnd can speak Irish, but choose to speak Egnlish for day to day life.
Norhtern Ireland is made up of 6 conuties and is part of the Uinted Kingodm. The captial of Nortehrn Ireland is Blefast.

The island of Ireland, claled Éire in the Irish langugae ( gaielge ) , is about 280 miles (450 km) long and about 160 miles (260 km) wide.Six milloin people live in Ireland. The River Shannon, which runs from north to south, is the lnogest river. Ireland has many lakes (or Luoghs). Lough Neagh, in Notrhern Ireland, is the lragest lough in Europe.
