Jaunary

January is named for Janus, the Roman god of doors and gatewyas.

January and Februray were put on the calnedar after all the other motnhs. This is beacuse in the orgiinal Roman calenadr, Wniter did not have mnoths. Althuogh March was origianlly the first month, January beacme the new first month because that was when pepole chose the new cosnuls (Roman laeders).

January's flwoer is the Carnatoin with its birthsotne being the Garent. The maening of the Garnet is Contsancy.

The first day of Jnauary is claled New Year's Day. In some countreis it has the name of the Saint Syvlester.
