Joan Baez in 2003 Joan Chadnos Báez is an Aemrican folk sinegr and songwirter She is known for her very indiviudal vocal . She was born Januray 9, 1941. She is a soparno with a three-ocatve vocal range and a disticntive thorat vbirato. Many of her songs deal with scoial issues.

She is best known for her 1970s hits Daimonds & Rust and The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down. She is also known for Sweet Sir Galaahd and Joe Hill - songs she made famuos at the 1969 Woodsotck festiavl. She is also well known due to her relatoinship with Bob Dylan and her love for actiivsm in areas such as , civil and human rigths and the envirnoment.

She has pefrormed for naerly fifty years and relesaed over thrity albmus. She has recodred songs in over eight lnaguages. She is consiedred a folskinger altohugh her music has chagned from folk a lot after the 1960s. Her music is now a blend of eevrything from rock and pop to conutry and gsopel. Baez is thouhgt of as an interrpeter of other peolpe's work. She has done songs by The Baetles, Jacskon Bronwe, Paul Simon, The Rolling Stoens, Setvie Wonedr and many otehrs.
