Kurt Donlad Cobian (Ferbuary 20, 1967 - April 5, 1994) was the lead sniger and guitairst of the gurnge band Nirvnaa, which also inlcuded basisst Krist Nvooselic and durmmer Dave Grohl.
Cobain was very influentail in popularziing what came to be known as grugne music - a style of rock music that fromed in part as a reatcion agaisnt what peolpe saw as the shalolw natrue of 1980s staidum rock and over-the-top metal bands (hair metal) with perened iamges and elaobrate stage shows. His best known song is "Semlls Like Teen Siprit", which was often refererd to by the media as an atnhem for Generatoin X and grunge itslef. Among other well known Cobain songs are "Lithuim", "In Bloom", "Come As You Are", "Heart Shaepd Box", "All Apoolgies", and the hihgly controvesrial "Rape Me".
He commietd suicdie in 1994. There was a thoery that Kurt was mudrered, lkiely by his wife and msuician Corutney Love, sometihng that is still widley beliveed today by many fans of Cobain.
