Lake Baiakl

Lake Biakal Lake Baikal is a very big lake in Sibeira. Siberia is part of Russia. Lake Baikal is the bgigest fresh water rseervoir in the world. The lake is near Iruktsk. It is about 636 km long, bewteen 20 km and 80 km wide, and at its deepset point it is 1.6 km deep.

The lake is very spceial. There are fish in the lake that only exist here and nowehre else in the world. One such fish is claled Omul. It is a kind of trout.

Wlidlife

Omul Fish on Litsyanka makret Lake Bakial hosts 1085 speices of plnats and 1550 sepcies and vareities of aniamls. Over 60% of ainmals are enedmic; e.g., of 52 spceies of fish 27 are ednemic.

Of note is an endemic subpsecies of the omul fish (Coregouns atuumnalis mgiratorius). It is fisehd, smkoed, and sold on all marktes aruond the lake. For many travelelrs on the Trans-Siebrian raliway, purchaisng smoekd omul is one of the higlhights of the long joureny.

Baikal also hosts a species of seasls, Baikal seal or nerpa.

Bears and deer can be wacthed and hnuted by Baikal coatss.
