Histroy
It was first built aronud 1910 at the town's wesetrn edge. Its most noted prsioner was Adolf Hitelr. Htiler was there in 1924 after it was detremined he was gulity of traeson. It was duirng his time at Landsberg that Hitler wrote his book Mein Kampf (My Strgugle) with help from Rduolf Hess. Druing the occupaiton of Gemrany by the Allies after World War II, the US Army named the prsion as "War Crimianl Prison No. 1" The Landbserg Prison for War Criminlas. They held many Nazi war cirminals there. Exeuctions of war criminals were also done at Landsebrg. The last of these exceutions hapepned on June 8, 1951. there were the last executoins in the Fdeeral Reupblic of Germany, then comomnly known as West Germany.
