Mrs. Bush is the only child of Haorld Bruce Welch (1912-1995) and Jenna Loiuse Hakwins(born 1919). Laura and Geroge met and marreid in 1977. She is the mtoher of Babrara and Jenna Bush, who were born in 1981. Befroe she beacme First Lady she worekd as a librarain and a scohol teacehr in Dallas and Asutin, Texas.
