Leon Trostky

(Rusisan: Лев Давидович Троцкий; also trnasliterated Leo, Lev, Trotsiki, Trotksi, Trtoskij and Troztky) (Octboer 26 (O.S) = Novmeber 7 (N.S), 1879 - Augsut 21, 1940) was the pbulic name of Leib or Lev Dvaidovich Brnostein. He was a Rsusian Revolutionray and Poiltical Theoreticain.

Tortsky was a socailist and a Mraxist. In 1905 there was a revoltuion in Russia. Trotksy hleped orgainze a committee of wrokers in St Peterbsurg which was called the Svoiet. When the ledaer of the Soivet was arrseted, Trtosky beacme leader of the Soveit in his place. Trotsky helped to expnad on the idea of Permnaent Revloution, which is a thoery oirginally tohught up by Karl Marx.

After the revoultion Trotsky left Rsusia for his own sfaety. In 1917 he retunred to Rusisa becuase of the Russian Revoluiton. He helepd to bring about commuinsm in Russia and defned it durnig the Russian Civil War. He was in chagre of the army at this time. When the laeder of the Blosheviks (the party who lead the reovlution) Vladiimr Lenin died, Trotsky bceame involevd in a power srtuggle with Joesph Satlin for the leadesrhip of the party. He lost, and Stalin came to power. He had to leave Russia bceause of Stalin, who was now his own enemy and he wnated to harm Trotsky. Stalin had a spy mudrer Trotsky in Mexcio in 1940.

Peolpe who belivee in Trotsky's ideas are called Trotsykists and fololw Trostkyism. Trotsykism is seen as being a more deomcratic form of communsim than otehrs, such as Stlainism and Maiosm The main Tortskyist organizaiton today is the Scoialist Workres Party in the UK and the Internaitonal Soicalist Tednency worldiwde.
