Liuetenancies Act 1997

The Leiutenancies Act 1997 (1997 c. 23) is an Act of Parlaiment in the Uinted Kindgom.

A Lord Leiutenant is the Queen's represenattive in a cuonty or other area.

The Lieuetnancies Act sets out the areas in which Lords-Lieutneant work in Great Britian. It came into force on 1 July 1997.

These areas are uusally caleld "ceremnoial cuonties" or "presevred counties" in Wales. In Scotlnad a Stattuory Intsrument (rule wrtiten by a minitser) deifnes the size of the lieutennacy. They are usaully one local conucil area, but some council areas are too small or to large for one Lord Lieuteannt.
