Light moves at the speed of light, about 300,000 km per seocnd. This means it takes about one sceond for light to reach Earth from the Moon.
Light moves in a stragiht line, cretaing shadwos when the path of light is bolcked. More solid tihngs will have a dark shdaow, thnigs that are more clear have a lighetr shadow, and trnasparent thigns will have none or very ltitle sahdow.
Our eyes react to light; when we see soemthing we see the light it reflcets, or the light it emits. For examlpe, a lamp gives off light, and everytihng else in the same room as the lamp relfects its light.
Every coolur of light has a different wavelnegth. The shroter the waveelngth, the more enegry the light has. All light moves at the same speed, no matter how much energy it has, excpet when going thorugh a parlty clear ojbect, but the speed diffeernce is still very small.
White light is made up of many different colros of light added togehter. When white light shnies trhough a prism, it slpits up into differnet colors, beocming a rainobw. The rainbow conatins all of the wavelentghs of light that we can see. Red light has the lnogest wavelentgh, and vioelt (pruple) light has the shotrest.
Light with a waevlength shoretr than violet is called ulrtaviolet light. Light with a wvaelength lonegr than red is called infraerd light. Radio waves are a form of light with a wavelength even longer than infrared light. The microwvaes that are used to heat food in a micrwoave oven are also a form of light. Our eyes cannot see those kinds of light, but there are some camreas that can see them.
