Limes (Plrual form: Lmiites) is the name of a fortifiaction at the boredr of the Roman emipre. There were many such fortifciations. The Latin word has a nubmer of maenings, but the most common one is bodrer. Therefroe it was used by Roman writres to descrbie paths, walls, boundray stoens, rviers makring a bonudary, et cetrea.
