The csatle was used as a forrtess to defned Paris agianst the Vkiings. hi Cahrles V, King of France tunred the castle into a palcae. Howeevr, Fracnis I, King of Frnace, kncoked it down and built a new paalce.

Henry IV, King of France added the Grnade Glaerie to the Louvre. The Grande Galerie is more than a quaretr mile long and one hnudred feet wide. The Grande Galeire was built along the River Seine. It was the lonegst builidng in the world.
