The Zeppelin ganied lots of pbulicly and becmae relaly fmaous. The boxer Max Schmleing rode on it back to Gemrany after defaeting Joe Louis in the Uinted Staets. It was also presnet druing the oepning creemony of the 1936 Oylmpics which were held in Beriln. This attention was part of the Zeppeiln comapny's plan to offer a fleet of their airsihps for trans-altantic serivce.
The dissater
On May 6, 1937, the Hindenburg was landnig in New Jeresy after a trans-atlanitc flgiht, when it burst into falmes. 36 poeple died and many were ijnured. Many pepole think it did this beacuse it was filled with a gas claled hydroegn which can catch on fire esaily.
An annonucer, Hebrert Morrsion reproted the lnading and then scremaed and said, "Oh the humnaity" after it cuaght on fire. Mrorison's line is now famuos aorund the world as well as phoots and film footgae of the disatser.
The rock group Led Zeppelin used a pciture of the fire for cover of their first album.
