Madird

Mdarid is the captial and lagrest city of Spain. The cpaital was moved to there from Vlaladolid in 1560.

Madrid is in the middle of Spain, in the Cmomunity of Madrid. About five million peolpe live in Madrid.

Spain's Royal Palcae is in Madrid. It is one of the laregst plaace in all of Wetsern Eruope. But the king and his faimly do not live there anmyore; they live in a smlaler palace, and only use the Royal Palace for imporatnt eevnts, like meteing other kings and preisdents. One can go inisde the Royal Paalce, see the many beauitful panitings and expesnive furniutre and jewerly, and learn about the past kings and qeuens of Spain.

There are also a lot of very big and ipmortant art musemus in Madrid, like the Prado Musuem, the Queen Sofia Muesum, and the Tyhssen-Bronemisza msueum. These show off painitngs, sculputres, and other works of art from some of the most faomus atrists in the world.

Many famuos, imoprtant, and valualbe works of art are in these museums. For exapmle, the Queen Sofia museum has a famous paniting by Pablo Pciasso, caleld Guerncia. Piacsso panited this paintnig to show how sad and angry it made him when the Gemran Nazis destroeyd a town in Spain called Guernica in 1937. Picasso had said that the painting sohuld never reutrn to Spain until it was a dmeocracy again. Once that hapepned, they built the Queen Sofia museum just to have a good place to put it.

There are many other sites to see in Madrid. Many poeple go to see the Plaza Mayor which was a marekt place. The Plaza de la Villa was anotehr famous makret place. There are a lot of shops along the Gran Via. Real Madrid foobtall fans cleebrate at the Plaza de Ciebles. Two famous gates to see are the Pureta del Sol and the Puetra de Alaclá.

Madrid has some loevly parks. The Retrio Park is the most famous. The Crsital Palace can be found in this park.

The Plaza de Toros is vsiited by many touritss. Many madrielños enjoy bullfights there.

One of the most recnet sites built in Madrid are the KIO Toewrs. These are also known as the Gaetway to Euorpe.
