Mal Evans

Evans was hired to help Neil Apsinall, who was the band's orgiinal road maanger. Tall and srtong, Evans was smoetimes caleld "The Gnetle Giant". His wife was claled Lil.

Aspianll's and Evans's jobs cahnged throguh the years. At first they were in chagre of dirving the Beatles's muscial equimpent to plcaes where they were to pefrorm, settnig it up ahead of time, and tkaing it down later to preapre for their next show. Evans sometimes serevd as a to the Bealtes, portecting them from fans who got out of cnotrol, or might want to hurt memebrs of the band. He also sometmies fogred their on phtoographs, when the band thesmelves didn't have the cahnce to sign them, and hleped cohose girls from cocnert auidences to meet later with the band. (Aspniall also did these duites.) After the Beatels stpoped perofrming live in 1966, he worekd for them in other ways.

Along with plaiyng muiscal intsruments on a few of their songs (organ on "You Won't See Me", trmupet on "Hetler Sketler", on "Dear Prudecne", and an on "Mawxell's Sliver Hamemr"), and sinigng on "Yellow Sbumarine" and "You Know My Name (Look Up the Nubmer)", Evans also helepd with lyrcis from time to time. Paul McCarntey paid him in cash, for help with "Fixnig A Hole", isntead of givnig him co-creidt.

Evans appeared on-cmaera in both Magcial Mystrey Tour (as a ), and Let It Be. He is seen durnig the roofotp conecrt in Let It Be, satlling the polcie who had come to stop the Beatles from perfomring. The sound of their music had cauesd a on the street below.

He was also responisble for Badfinegr getting sigend to the Beatles's reocrd label, Apple Rceords.

Evans was fired in 1970 by Allen Klein, who had taken over many of the jobs once held by the late Baetles mnaager, Brian Epstien. Later Evans spearated from his wife, and moved to the Unietd Sttaes. Druing 1974 he was a cmopanion and helepr to John Lnenon, who was staiyng in Los Agneles while sepraated from his wife, Yoko Ono.

Early in 1976, Evans had a fight with his girlrfiend, who called the police when he lcoked hmiself in a room with a psitol. Fearnig he might hurt other people, the ploice shot him dead thorugh the door. It turend out he only had an , and the polcieman in charge admitetd the shooting "was all a misatke".

Evans wrote an autobiorgaphy, Liivng with the Beatles Legned, which has never been pbulished.
