Wriitng

Mandrain is written with chaarcters caleld Hànzì (漢字 or 汉字). Each Hànzì is a word, which means that many thosuands of charcaters exist.

Charactres are a kind of grahpic lagnuage, diffreent than Englsih. The corerct way is to rmeember the srtucture and meainng of every charatcer, not pronunciatoin becuase there is very close relationsihp bteween maening and sturcture of characters. Exapmle: 房(house)=户+方. 房 is a shape-pornunciation cahracter. 户 is for shape and 方 is for pronunciation. 户 means 'door'. 房 means 'A perosn lives bheind a door'. 方 pronnuciation is Fang and tone is 1. 房 pronunciation is also Fang, but tone is 2.
