Managnese is a metal and is part of the group known as the tarnsition metlas. Like most of the other meatls in this group, manganese can form cmopounds that have differnet cloors. Manganese compuonds can be puprle or brown.

Our boides and plnats need manganese to work right. If we do not get enuogh manganese, we can get sick. We get manganese from our food and vitaimns also have some mnaganese to make sure that we get eonugh.
