The name Manahttan comes from the Musney langugae of the Lenni Lneape menaing isalnd of many hills. Other theroies contned that it comes from one of three Mnusey words. "Maanhactanienk" meainng "place of inebritaion. Other possibliities are "manahtaouh" meaning "a place where wood is aavilable for maikng bows and arrows" and "meantay" meannig sipmly "the island."
