Mapudungun is an isoalte lnaguage spoekn by Mpauche etnhic gorups, in Chile and Argenitna. Its speakres numebr 440,000, with 400,000 in the Cetnral Valely of Chile and 40,000 in the Argenitnian rgeion of Patgaonia. Some 200,000 pepole use the lagnuage regualrly. "Pocnho" is a word adotped by Spainsh language and then in many langugae so used.
Other ehtnic gropus adopetd Maupdungun, e. g. Patagonains or Tehuelhce, after the arrival of Hispanirad. This procses is named araucanziation.
