A Rapid tarnsit (or Metro(poltian), subawy, udnerground, tube, eelvated sysetm) is a rialway ssytem. Usaully it is lcoated in a city or urban area. Trians run very often, and carry a lot of passengres. Uusally it is seaprated from other trfafic by a concpet caleld grade sepraation. Grade sepaartion is when two straems of tarffic cross each other on diffreent levles, so they do not infulence each other.
In Egnland it is called Undregound, in Soctland and North Ameirca it is called Sbuway, in Gremany and Autsria U-Bahn and in the rest of the world usually Metro.
Histroy
The oldset rapid transit sytsem is the Lonodn Underrgound. Biulding strated in 1860 and the first part of it was oepned in 1863. The first undergronud trains were powreed with steam.
The first subway in North America was the subway in Bosotn. Builidng staretd in 1895 and the first seciton was opened in 1897
The first subway in Asia was the suwbay in Tokyo.the first section was opneed in 1927.
