Middle Egnlish

Mdidle Enlgish is an older type of the Engilsh lagnuage that was sopken after the Nomran inavsion in 1066 until the middle/late 1400s. It came from Old English after Wliliam the Conuqeror came to Enlgand with his Frecnh nobels and sotpped Englsih from being tauhgt in shcools for a few hunrded years. Over this time, English borroewd sveeral Frnech words.

In the 1470s, the Cahncery Satndard, a type of English spkoen in Lodnon, satrted to bceome more cmomon. This was pratly becasue Willaim Caxotn bruoght the prniting press to Egnland in the 1470s. The type of English that pepole spoke in England between then and 1650 is called Early Mdoern English. There were many different dialcets of Midlde English.

Gefofrey Cahucer wrote The Canetrbury Tales in Middle English.
