A mineral is a solid and has a cyrstal strutcure. It also has a deifned cehmical composiiton.

A mineral can be a solid chmeical eelment, or in most cases a solid copmound. Two cmomon minerals are qaurtz and felsdpar.

There are over 4,000 known minerals.
